Nicole says...

"I am truly honored to be nominated for this award.  4-H is my passion!  I see how one experience in 4-H leads to another real-life lesson.  Professionally, I am blessed to “work’ with children of all different abilities.  In my eyes, 4-H is an extra-curricular activity that all children can participate in and excel!  There are no coaches, parents, or players that can hold these 4-H members back from reaching for their dreams.  4-H is the perfect program to get youth prepared for college or the workforce.

My favorite experience in 4-H, thus far, has been getting my children and community involved with a national program called Wreaths Across America (WAA) at the Quincy National Cemetery.  Ursa Willing Workers4-H club has embraced this huge community service project wholeheartedly.  Without a doubt, the 4-H members are learning what the 4-H motto means with this WAA event:

4-H youth pledge their head to clearer thinking… when they plan every little detail of the somber Wreaths Across America ceremony.

4-H youth pledge their hands to larger service… when they fundraise over $5,000 each year and lay the wreaths on all 562 Veteran’s tombstones.

4-H youth pledge their heart to greater loyalty… when they are respectful at the cemetery and when they REMEMBER and HONOR our local Veterans that have given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

4-H youth pledge their health to better living… because when children are doing great things, they feel better!  It’s a proven fact that depression decreases when people are helping others.

4-H offers youth many opportunities to reach their full potential as productive, kind, caring, humble, and responsible citizens!"
