Illinois Extension Professionals for Youth Education Professional Development Scholarship Fund

The Illinois Extension Professionals for Youth Education Professional Development Scholarship Fund is designed to provide financial assistance and enhance the professional development of IEPYE members.  The scholarship program will be:

  • An incentive program to encourage members to attend NAE4-HYDP national meetings and participate fully in the conference (attend workshops, seminars, committee meetings, etc.).
Availability of Awards
  1. The funds are to be expended to help as many members of IEPYE as possible.  This means the scholarship could be split among more than one applicant.
  1. Priority will be given to IEPYE members who have not attended a NAE4-HYDP annual meeting or who do not have access to state or county funds to fully cover such a professional development opportunity.
  1. The IEPYE Advisory Committee will select the scholarship award winners based on the award criteria. 
Eligibility for Awards
  1. An applicant’s appointment must be at least 50 percent time with University of Illinois Extension to be eligible to receive an award.
  1. An applicant must have been a member of IEPYE for at least one year and currently be a member of IEPYE.
  1. An applicant shall receive no more than one IEPYE Professional Development Scholarship Award in any three-year period.
  1. Staff will be awarded IEPYE scholarship funds at the completion of the NAE4-HYDP Conference.    
Application Process
  1. Complete an application for IEPYE Scholarship which will include the following information:
  • Professional development opportunity
  • Statement of Plan
  • Budget
  • Amount Requested
  1.  The applicant will also be required within one year of attending the NAE4-HYDP annual meeting to:
  2. Submit a short narrative of the results of your professional development opportunity to the President of IEPYE and to the newsletter editor for publication in the IEPYE newsletter.
  3. Give a report to their Regional IEPYE group on how they used information gained at that conference to further their own professional development or to strengthen their 4-H youth development program
  4. Deadline will be in June. The scholarship application should be sent to the Past-President of IEPYE or their designee.
Fund Management
  1. The Advisory Committee of IEPYE will administer the funds in consultation with the IEPYE Treasurer.  Funds will be released after the recipient has attended the NAE4-HYDP Conference by the IEPYE Treasurer. 
  2. Depending on the amount of money in the fund and the amount requested by the applicant, scholarships might range from $100 to $500. 
  3. Funds will be raised on discretion of the IEPYE Advisory Committee.  The IEPYE Past President will be responsible for coordinating fund raising efforts.  (Auctions at annual meetings and spring JCEP conference have been a method used to raise these funds.)
