Illinois 4-H

Cartha has been highly involved in the 4-H community, coordinating various activities such as seminars, after-school programs, and trips. She played a major role in rebuilding the Clark County 4-H horse program and helped establish the annual 4-H Tack Auction. Additionally, Gustafson and her husband created the 4-H Jazz Band SPIN Club, performing at events like the Illinois State Fair, for the Dean of the College of ACES and at local nursing homes. As a 4-H Program Coordination she also served on the 4-H Memorial Camp Board. Cartha stated, “One of my most memorable experiences was taking a group of 4-H’ers to Bucks County Pennsylvania on a 4-H State Exchange trip, and then having the Pennsylvania kids come to Illinois later that same summer.”
