Madonna Weese retired from University of Illinois Extension as a 4-H Youth Development specialist in March 2018, where she served 13 years in her career with the organization.  During her tenure, Madonna was essential in the development and leadership of new 4-H curriculum for Illinois 4-H.  Madonna wrote and developed project manuals for 4-H Cooking 101-104, Geology, Exploring Fiber Arts, Officers Handbook, Welcome to 4-H, 4-H Scrapbooking, and Passport to the World.

Madonna also led the team of educators to develop and implement the 4-H SPIN club model on the state and national levels.  She was recognized nationally as an expert in SPIN (SPecial INterest) clubs, a new program delivery model using episodic volunteers to deliver sustained, high-quality, positive youth development programs and teach young people life skills or mastery.  She also wrote and managed grants for statewide Healthy Living programs.

Madonna developed and implemented the “4-H Health Jam” program which was twice selected as a National Program of Distinction.  Health Jam was an innovative program targeting rural elementary school children to offer information and support related to exercise, wellness, nutrition, and health careers.
