Sheri Seibold lived her life committed to making a difference in the world. Her 34-year career with University of Illinois Extension was the platform she used to impact the lives of thousands of Illinois 4-H members, 4-H families, and 4-H volunteers. Sheri began her career as an Extension Home Economist, however quickly realized her true passion was to work with the Illinois 4-H program creating positive youth development experiences for youth and training volunteers to support 4-H’ers in learning valuable skills that would shape their lives. She held positions as a Youth Advisor and an Extension Educator, Youth Development before joining the University of Illinois State 4-H Office as the Extension Volunteer Specialist. Sheri served as a member of and/or chaired the Illinois State 4-H Volunteer Development Taskforce for 24 years. This group was responsible for the development of numerous training materials on risk management, volunteer development, and volunteer screening. Sheri was instrumental in transitioning Illinois 4-H volunteer training to an online, on-demand training format and development of the first required online Child Protection training. She was also a contributing member of teams who developed these valuable Illinois curricula and programs: Camp Clover Summer Day Camp; Get Up & Move Healthy Living; Valued Volunteer Training Series; 4-H Focus on Character; Illinois Mentor Leaders; and core to the creation of the Favorite Recipes of Illinois 4-H Through the Years cookbook. Sheri also served as an Illinois 4-H Foundation Board member. Sheri will be greatly missed.
