Karen Temple grew up in Iroquois County, IL and was a 10-year member of the Cissna Park Go Getters and Cissna Park Jr. Girls 4-H Clubs. When she got married and moved to Whiteside County, Karen became a leader of the Garden Plain Ripsnorters 4-H Club. Karen’s mission during her 20+ years as a 4-H leader was to provide an understanding of parliamentary procedure, introduce career opportunities, emphasize community service, offer opportunities to learn new skills, and broaden horizons with new experiences. She served on Extension Council, was active in the Leaders’ Association, and participates in other community-based agricultural services. Karen encouraged member involvement on the county level, and if they planned to attend the University of Illinois, she made sure they knew the opportunities 4-H House would provide. She is one-of-a-kind and Whiteside County is lucky to have her as a caring, dedicated, gracious volunteer and friend.
