Brenda Close, leader for the Hamlet Handy Helpers’ 4-H Club has been a dedicated leader for this club and Mercer County 4-H for 11 years. Brenda is one to be relied on and has instilled this trait in her children and club members. She encourages the kids to help with 4-H activities and reminds them that if they say they will help, they should honor that commitment. Following through with what you say and do is very important to Brenda. She became a leader to help with her children’s club, however she helped many children beyond her own. The thing that stands out to me about Brenda is the personal connection she tries to make with everyone in the club. In this day of technology, Brenda is one to still write personal notes of appreciation or congratulations. It is the personal touch today that goes the extra mile
