Peggy Hampton began her career with University of Illinois Extension in 1994 as an academic hourly working with the 4-H program in Montgomery County.  One of her first tasks was to plan the summer 4-H shows while at the same time closing the office down due to lack of funding.  That first summer she worked with local volunteers to educate the local voters on the need for Extension in Montgomery County. After a successful referendum to re-open the local Extension office she began working as a 4-H Unit Assistant in charge of 4-H and family programs in Montgomery County. Upon the reorganization of University of Illinois Extension, she then became the 4-H Youth Development Educator in Unit 18 serving Christian, Jersey, Macoupin and Montgomery Counties. She considers her greatest accomplishment being a part of the growth of so many youth over her almost 25 year career.  Even today in retirement,  Peggy continues working with 4-H youth in Montgomery County as a 4-H Cloverbud Leader of the Raymond Buckeyes 4-H Club.
