Mike and Rita Palmer were members of the Lawrence County 4-H Program growing up and continued to volunteer after. Mike assisted his family in raising funds to construct buildings on the current fairgrounds. Rita assisted her grandparents with rabbit and poultry superintendent duties. When their children joined 4-H they became leaders of the Clever Clovers 4-H Club and still are 25 years later. They are also instructors of Shooting Sports in Lawrence County. Mike and Rita assist with the 4-H beef weigh-in, and many activities throughout the year. The Palmer 4-H motto is “Once a 4-H member, always a 4-H member.”
