When speaking of Ms. Colleen Magee, it is impossible not to mention her dedication and genuine concern for our youth. Colleen has spoken and brainstormed with Extension staff on ways to help transforming Rockford's youth. She was more than willing to offer her expertise in sewing, which she felt would give youth an opportunity to acquire a hands-on life skill. Upon the first planning meeting, Ms. Colleen had already recruited a team of women who were also experienced in sewing to assist with this club. Ms. Colleen Magee has given young women in Winnebago County confidence and helped to improve their self-image simply by sewing. She created an environment that offered a fun, experiential learning opportunity, while providing them with mentors who took an interest in their lives. Therefore, it is without hesitation Ms. Colleen Magee is nominated for the Hall of Fame for her selfless acts of kindness, countless hours of service, and willingness to offer valuable life lessons and support to Winnebago County youth.
