J. George and his wife, Ann, sponsor a 4-H Leadership Award for Kendall County 4-H Achievement Night. He is a source of great encouragement to 4-H members at County Fairs even after retiring as a 4-H leader. They made a grant to University of Illinois Foundation that supports Dairy Judging and 4-H House. J. George is a DHIA National Board member. J. George and his wife Ann started their own dairy herd with a University of Illinois cow they purchased in a sale the year they were married. In the 1960s, J. George served on a rural recreation committee that created Harris Forest Preserve in the Yorkville area. The committee's hope was to provide a location for the 4-H fair as well as softball diamonds, a toboggan run, and other activities. A fairgrounds was created on adjacent property in 1992. J. George retired from the Kendall County Fair Board at age 85.
