The Illinois 4-H Foundation of the University of Illinois Extension presented Carole Craig of Merritt Island, Florida, as a recipient of a 2011 4-H Alumni awards. The award was presented at the annual ACES College Connection event on Nov. 18 at the Alice Campbell Alumni Center in Urbana.
Craig is President and CEO of Craig Technologies, a company that specializes in information technology and engineering solutions for commercial and government entities. She credits the opportunity she had to work with computers in 4-H with influencing her choice of a career in technology. Prior to starting her company, she served as a P-3C Orion naval flight officer. As part of her military service, she supervised an IT department, developing aviation programs and a website for the squadron. Craig has received numerous awards, including the Society of Women Engineers Entrepreneur Award in 2008. She has also served on the boards of several Florida-based non-profit organizations and on the Board of Overseers of the Florida Tech College of Business.
