Putting research into practice to transform lives

people on ropes course

Our approach in 4-H:

  • Elevating the voices of young people and believing in their potential to learn, serve and lead around topics they care about,
  • Using research-informed practices that support positive youth development and help all youth thrive,
  • Providing safe and hands-on experiences – where youth have fun and are challenged to try new things,
  • Ensuring access and equity for all through diverse and inclusive educational experiences,
  • Encouraging youth through positive relationships with caring and trusted adult mentors,
  • Creating experiences for young people to practice life and workplace skills that will prepare them for future success,
  • Inviting youth to see a world beyond themselves with opportunities to engage in the community, state, national and international experiences across the network of 4-H youth and families across the United States and across the world, and
  • Developing young people who are empowered, confident, hard-working, determined, responsible, and compassionate – seeing a world beyond themselves.
