Tom O'Connor's life is woven into the fabric of Knox County 4-H. Starting as a member in 1962, his passion only grew. After graduating, he co-led the Wataga Livestock 4-H Club for 18 years. Tom is an active volunteer, alongside his wife Jane and sons John and Carl how are following in their dad’s footsteps. Tom leads the ever-popular rocket launch program at the Knox County 4-H general show. His dedication to the rocketry program ignites a love of science in young members. This year, Tom even led a rocket building workshop, a testament to his desire to see the program thrive. Despite calling himself "Mr. Average," Tom's dedication is far from ordinary. He's a true asset to the community, living by the principle of giving back – not just through 4-H, but also as a Farm Bureau board member and St. Vincent DePaul volunteer. Tom's legacy is one of service, passion, and a commitment to inspiring the next generation of 4-H leaders.
