Pam has been part of the 4-H family dating back to the1980s. When her kids first joined 4-H, she helped with club activities; however, it didn’t take but a year and she was an assistant leader and later would become a leader.

Pam has not only served as a 4-H leader during her kids’ 4-H years, but also both her older and now younger grandkids. She has been described as having “helium hand” meaning that she always raises her hand and agrees to help in one way or another.

Pam isn’t the type of person to sit back and wait for things to happen. She had heard comments about there not being enough horse shows for the kids to showcase and practice, so she went into action and organized shows and raised money to pay for the judges and ribbons. She also organized a SPIN club and secured a grant to help get the SPIN club up and running. The past three years the Hayburners 4-H Club has sponsored a show “Ride for Hunger” that has raised $900 and collected about 500 pounds of food for the Riverbend Food Bank. In September, Hayburners and Trail Blazers 4-H Club together hosted “Hooves for Paws” and raised $4,000 for QC Paws, a non-profit organization that supports the needs of animals in the Rock Island County Animal Care and Control Shelter.
