Barbara J. Weaver has served as a Vermilion County 4-H Leader for 47 years. Although she was never a 4-H member, she has been compelled to be a long-term 4-H leader and volunteer because she strongly believes in the values and vision of the 4-H program. Barbara says: “When the kids succeed, it just makes me happy.” Barbara became a 4-H leader when her kids were old enough to join 4-H. Since then she has had grandchildren and great grandchildren that are active 4-H members. In addition to being a 4-H leader, Barbara has also been a project leader, member of the Vermilion County 4-H Youth Council, and a manager of the 4-H Federation Food Booth and 4-H General Projects Show at the fair. Weaver’s late husband, William R. Weaver was also a 4-H leader.
