After 10 years as a 4-H member in the Green Valley Purple Ribbon 4-H club, George Garrietts of Tazewell County went on to become the club’s leader. For the past 34 years, George has continued as club leader as well as volunteering for a wide variety of 4-H programs. Locally George is also a 4-H Show Superintendent for Natural Resources and the 4-H liaison on the county Fair Board. For 10 years, he worked for U of I Extension as the 4-H Fair coordinator. At the state level, George has served on the State Fair Advisory Committee, chaperoned National 4-H Congress and 4-H Space Camp.
