10 year member of the Busy Bees 4-H Club; 1 year leader of the Salem Eagles 4-H Club

Mary Jo Stewart has spent her life supporting the 4-H program of Macon County.  Mary Jo served 4-H for 20 years as a Extension Educator for 4-H Youth Development.  She worked tirelessly to bring opportunities to our youth.   She always had a smile on her face and a "great opportunity" for  you to get involved.  She has a gift of convincing volunteers to go above and beyond, thanking her for the opportunity afterwards.  To this day, former 4-H members fondly remember the extra events or activities that Mary Jo took them to that helped shape them in their future careers and lives. Mary Jo, now retired, is still an active volunteer for Macon County 4-H serving on the Foods Committee.   She is also a former member of the Macon County 4-H Foundation, and a proud supporter of the program.   Macon County 4-H would not be the same if it were not for Mary Jo Stewart. Jim & Mary Jo have 2 sons who were 10-year 4-H members. Mary Jo was an IFYE Representative to Peru in 1961-1962. She is a board member for the Illinois IFYE Association and has hosted youth from Japan, Poland, Turkey, Finland, and France.
