6 year member of the Happy Hour 4-H Club; 50 year leader of the Whirylbirds 4-H Club
Marilyn Goodrich from DuPage County was a very involved 4-H member and leader. As soon as she reached age 18, she took over her all girls club, Happy Hour, and left it after 9 years to start the Whirlybirds 4-H club. Marilyn takes the 4-H pledge seriously. As a 4-H Leader she has learned when to direct and advise, but more so, when to back off and encourage youth to accept responsibility, to make decisions, and also allow them to make mistakes. Marilyn Goodrich has fulfilled the 4-H leader's pledge to help generations of youth develop a positive self-image, to be able to set goals, and to be aware of the need to serve others.
