15 year club leader; 54 year staff at State Fair's Junior Home Economics Building

Although Ruby passed away on March 6, 2006, she left a legacy of 4-H involvement and volunteerism that would be difficult for anyone to duplicate. At 84 years of age, Ruby had dedicated 54 summers of her life working in the Junior Home Economics Building at the Illinois State Fair. Her continued presence, year after year, pleasant demeanor and experience encouraged confidence in many generations of 4-Hers. Ruby also gave of her time at the County level. She served as a 4-H Club Leader for at least 15 years and then continued her guidance by helping out at 4-H project workshops such as "Sew Much Fun" and also with youth on a one-on-one basis. Ruby was a constant for over 50 years with the Moultrie County 4-H Fair and the Moultrie-Sullivan Junior Fair after Moultrie and Douglas counties combined 4-H. She last served as a superintendent of the Arts and Crafts division.
