11 year member of the Goldenrod 4-H Club 4-H Club in Cumberland County; 48 year leader of the Casey Achievers 4-H Club in Clinton County
Every county has volunteers who go beyond the call of duty; but there are few volunteers who have impacted the lives of young people like Eleanor Markwell. Eleanor's club has ranged between 50 and 90 members over the years. Even with her large club, she has always met in the basement of her home because she feels it is important for these children to know they are welcome and loved in someone's house. Throughout the years, Eleanor's club has reached disadvantaged youth in the community who have lacked consistent parental support. However the club has also reached the children in the community who have many resources, providing a wonderful blend of children from different social and economic lifestyles together in one club.
