How did 4-H contribute to your leadership skills today?
It is impossible to enumerate the lessons learned through 4-H. I learned skills that blend with knowledge and wisdom today. I learned to recognize people's strengths and abilities and how to apply those skills for a better life and opportunities.
Did 4-H instill a career path for you?
My leadership skills gained from Share the Fun, club and county leadership, serving as a Collegiate 4-H officer and attending the Freshman Leadership conference were all instrumental in learning the power of teamwork, creativity and hard work.
What advice do you have for someone who is interested in your career path?
My career path has varied with marketing and communications to association management and lobbying to farming. For any career path it could involve college, online training, tech programs and apprenticeships. Identify what needs to be accomplished, do what you can, push yourself to do more, do it well with integrity and then do it until it's done.
What advice would you give a current 4-H member?
Take advantage of every opportunity possible. Say Yes and realize you are continually "becoming". You are in motion, not a statue in a park.
