How did 4-H contribute to your leadership skills today?
I use my presentation, organizational and teamwork skills everyday at work. It was in 4-H that I gained the confidence to step out of my comfort zone, to fail safely and to lead by example.
Did 4-H instill a career path for you?
Absolutely. Since becoming a member of the Raymond Sparklers 4-H club at age 8 there has only be one year that I was not a 4-H member, summer intern, county educator or State Extension Specialist. Today, I am able to take all of the skills that I learned in 4-H and incorporate them in to developing materials and programs for Oklahoma 4-H members.
What advice do you have for someone who is interested in your career path?
I would encourage 4-H members to explore the options beyond their club. 4-H offers so many amazing opportunities on the county, state, national and international levels. Take advantage of the 4-H trips, apply to serve on a national committee, attend a Summit Series conference in D.C. The possibilities are endless!

Why should young people join 4-H today?
I always say that 4-H has something for everyone. If your interest is birding, photography, food science, robotics or showing goats...4-H has something to offer you. And you will likely find a new friend who has the same interest. Through 4-H young people are mentored by caring volunteers who help youth develop skills to last a lifetime.
