"I credit the leadership and time management skills I use in my career today to the experiences I had on committees and as an officer in my clubs."

How did 4-H contribute to your leadership skills today?

I was an officer and committee chair for many years and this greatly contributed to my ability to lead teams and projects today.

Did 4-H instill a career path for you?

My experience in public speaking directly led me to pursue a major in Communications as an undergrad.

What advice do you have for someone who is interested in your career path?

Get involved! Look for opportunities to get involved on the county or state level, lead a committee, run for an office or try a project outside of your comfort zone.

What advice would you give a current 4-H member?

Ask a ton of questions. Learn about the industry, the company and the field. Volunteer for extra work. If you have an idea, pursue it, even (and especially) if it is outside your job description. Use your 4-H network to build connections. Do lots of internships to find the right fit!

Why should young people join 4-H today?

I can think of NO better way to develop life skills, career skills and people skills. I made some of my BEST friends through 4-H and firmly believe it is a major reason I am who I am today!

Be informed. Ask a Question.
