Did any of your 4-H project skills, experiences or connections help prepare you for your career path?
Yes; the skills that I learned in art and Entomology has helped me to pay attention to detail and perfect my art and designs on my cakes at my current job as a cake decorator.
What advice do you have for someone who wants to enter your career path?
I would say for anyone wanting to become a cake decorator I would recommend entering the culinary and arts section of 4-H. I feel that understanding art and the culinary world helps to perfect your cake decorating skills.
What did you learn through 4-H that benefits you today?
I definitely feel that learning how to make presentations and presentation boards helped me when I got into college. It also helped me to get more comfortable with speaking in front of people.
How did 4-H contribute to your leadership skills today?
4-H helped me to become a better and stronger leader due to holding an officers position in my club and helping run a holiday fundraiser. These things helped to strengthen my leadership skills for later in life.
What advice would you give a current 4-H member?
The advice that I would give any current 4-H members is to keep going and to keep trying even when things are tough.
Do you currently volunteer or have volunteered with the 4-H program? If so, in what capacity.
Yes; I have helped out with the judging and the setting up of the baked/canned foods at the Champaign county fair.
