Volunteer training is essential so that volunteers not only understand the expectations of their role but have the skills, competencies, and information necessary to be successful. We're here to do everything we can to help you.
Required Training for Volunteers
Each volunteer must complete the University of Illinois Child Protection Training. In addition, any adult who chaperones youth overnight are required to complete the Chaperone Training. Both of these training modules require an online account you'll create so your completion can be recorded by the state office.
To access the Child Protection Training:
- Go to https://learn.extension.illinois.edu/course/view.php?id=372, this will take you to the login page for Learn @ Illinois Extension.
- If you already have an account:
- Login with your username and password
- After logging in you will go to the course enrollment page. Select the Enroll me button. (see image below)
- You will be taken to the course main page and can begin the course.
- You will also receive an email confirming your enrollment.
- If you do not yet have an account:
- Use the Create New Account button to create your account.
- After you complete the account creation step, check your email account for a message from Admin User and follow the directions for confirming your account.
- Once you confirm your account, you will automatically be logged into Learn @ Illinois Extension and taken to the course enrollment page.
- Select the Enroll me button. (see image below)
- You will be taken to the course main page and can begin the course.
- You will also receive an email confirming your enrollment.
Recommended Training
We also encourage volunteers to view these additional trainings. These may be completed any time you have an extra few minutes and want to learn more about your volunteer role. Don't forget to read the documents which go along with many of these videos.
