IL 4-H DEIA Committee Purpose:
The DEIA committee will help to develop, refine, and monitor an implementation plan to advance the four strategic directions identified in the 2022-23 4-H DEIA Strategic Plan.
Those include:
- Ensure that our 4-H priorities align with the inclusion and access needs within our communities.
- Be transparent about our commitment to DEIA through our marketing, programs, resources, and opportunities.
- Work with our youth, trusted adults, families, volunteers, and staff to create accountable and inclusive spaces.
- Intentionally engage with community members who have not historically benefited from 4-H programs and resources while simultaneously examining any biases as we work with underserved communities.
Committee Composition:
Our committee is composed of a diverse range of members, including:
- 4-H Youth Members: Young leaders passionate about DEIA and representing their peers.
- 4-H Volunteers: Committed volunteers who bring community perspectives and expertise.
- 4-H Staff Members: Educators and staff from across Illinois who work collaboratively to design, implement, and support DEIA initiatives.
- Partner Representatives: Professionals and advocates from partner organizations who provide valuable insights and resources to enhance the committee's impact.
Together, this multi-faceted team works to ensure that Illinois 4-H is a place where every individual feels a sense of belonging and empowerment.
Meeting schedule:
Our committee meets quarterly to review progress on initiatives, discuss new DEIA opportunities, and strategize on upcoming projects. Meetings take place both in-person at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaigm campus, and online. Additional meetings may be scheduled as needed, particularly around major events.
