The Illinois 4-H Alumni Advisory Committee will support the strategic direction and objectives including telling the 4-H story to alumni, creating alumni engagement opportunities, recognizing alumni accomplishments and overall support of the Illinois 4-H program.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Illinois 4-H Alumni Association is to create a lifelong, statewide community of 4-H alumni and provide increased opportunities for meaningful engagement in order to increase awareness, pride, participation, volunteerism, and philanthropic commitment to Illinois 4-H.

Committee Composition

The Illinois 4-H Alumni Advisory Committee will be comprised of a president, vice-president, immediate past president, nine regional directors (3 per region), three young alumni directors, two student ambassador representatives and one Collegiate 4-H ambassador, and a liaison to the 4-H Alumni Staff Advisory committee. From these positions, an executive team shall be elected for President, Vice-President, Secretary and Immediate Past President (in future). A person shall not be elected for more than two consecutive terms, a maximum of four years. (Terms will be altered this first year to have members roll off the committee over time and not all at once.)

Commitment

The Illinois 4-H Alumni Association Advisory Committee will meet four times per year on a weekday with two meetings being in person and two meetings meeting remotely. Committee members are also assigned to at least one committee. These committees meet via teleconference between meetings, as needed.

Regional Directors
Each regional director is responsible for representing 4-H alumni who reside within a specific geographic region in Illinois. He/she communicates the needs and concerns of constituents in their district to the Illinois 4-H Alumni Association Advisory Committee. The directors will coordinate at least one social or professional event in his/her district during the year which includes securing a location, identifying the program participants, promotion of the event and hosting the event. Serve as an advocate for the Illinois 4-H program, when appropriate.

Region 1 Director - 3 openings

  • Nominees must have been a member of the Illinois 4-H program for a minimum of three years.
  • The nominee must reside in one of the following counties: Cook, Boone, DeKalb, Ogle, DuPage, Kendall, Kane, Grundy, Kankakee, Will, JoDaviess, Stephenson, Winnebago, Lake or McHenry.

Region 2 Director - 3 openings

  • Nominees must have been a member of the Illinois 4-H program for a minimum of three years.
  • The nominee must reside in one of the following counties: Carroll, Whiteside, Lee, Rock Island, Mercer, Henry, Stark, Bureau, LaSalle, Marshall, Putnam, Knox, Warren, Henderson, McDonough, Peoria, Fulton, Tazewell, Mason, McLean, Woodford, Livingston, Hancock, Adams, Brown, Pike, Schuyler, Cass, Morgan, Scott, Greene, Calhoun, Logan, Menard, Sangamon, Christian, Montgomery, Macoupin, Jersey.

Region 3 Director - 3 openings

  • Nominees must have been a member of the Illinois 4-H program for a minimum of three years.
  • The nominee must reside in one of the following counties: Champaign, Ford, Iroquois, Vermillion, Macon, DeWitt, Piatt, Moultrie, Douglas, Coles, Shelby, Cumberland, Edgar, Clark, Crawford, Fayette, Effingham, Jasper, Clay, Madison, St. Clair, Monroe, Bond, Clinton, Washington, Marion, Jefferson, Hamilton, White, Saline, Gallatin, Pope, Hardin, Wayne, Richland, Lawrence, Edwards, Wabash, Randolph, Perry, Jackson, Franklin, Williamson, Union, Johnson, Alexander, Pulaski, Massac.

Young Alumni Director - 3 openings
Each young alumni director is responsible for representing 4-H alumni under 30 years of age that have completed their 4-H careers in the past 10-15 years. Provide leadership to engage with youth in their last years of 4-H to offer a better understanding of a lifelong connection to the Illinois 4-H program through the Illinois 4-H Alumni Association.  Serve as an advocate for the Illinois 4-H program, when appropriate.

  • Nominees must have been a member of the Illinois 4-H program for a minimum of three years.
  • The nominee must be under the age of 30 at the time of application.

Student Ambassador Director - 2 openings

The Student Ambassador Director(s) are responsible for representing the Illinois 4-H Alumni Association to youth in the Illinois 4-H program. Provide leadership to engage with youth in their last years of 4-H to offer a better understanding of a lifelong connection to the Illinois 4-H program through the Illinois 4-H Alumni Association.  Serve as an advocate for the Illinois 4-H program, when appropriate.

  • Nominees must have been a member of the Illinois 4-H program for a minimum of three years.
  • The nominee must serve on a current state level 4-H ambassador team.

Collegiate 4-H Ambassador Director - 1 opening

The Collegiate 4-H Ambassador Director is responsible for representing the Illinois 4-H Alumni Association to youth in the Illinois 4-H program and at the collegiate level. Provide leadership to engage with youth in their last years of 4-H to offer a better understanding of a lifelong connection to the Illinois 4-H program through the Illinois 4-H Alumni Association.  Serve as an advocate for the Illinois 4-H program, when appropriate.

  • Nominees must have been a member of the Illinois 4-H program for a minimum of three years.
  • The nominee must be a member of a Collegiate 4-H program.
