Illlini Summer Academies is a hi-fidelity college exploratory experience on the University of Illinois campus. Participants attend academy sessions led by university professors and enjoy a variety of engaging activities that provide a taste of just how cool college life can be.
There are over 15 different subjects to explore ranging from child development and creative writing, molecular biology and aerospace engineering, to veterinary medicine and plant science. All academies feature project-based learning where youth are either conducting experiements, making something, or discovering some aspect of the world few people ever get to see.
It wouldn't be college without lots of time for socializing, meeting new friends, and exploring campus. Registration opens March 1.
Teens who have attended the Illini Summer Academies program are invited to apply for the planning committee to assist in making arrangements for the next year’s event on the University of Illinois campus. Teens must still be eligible to attend the event, so need to be 15-18 years of age. Applications are emailed to the current year’s delegates and are due September 1. Teens attend a weekend planning retreat and several teleconferences during the year and are required to arrive the day before the Illini Summer Academies program starts.
