Evalena Dierker (EV-AL-LEEN-A DARE-EH-KER) of Mason County began serving as a 4-H leader and volunteer in 1961. She was leader of the girls only Cloverettes 4-H Club and the Fancy Fixers 4-H Club in the Manito, IL area. She and her husband, Frederick, later became leaders of the Egypt Hustlers 4-H Club and were the Poultry Superintendents at the Mason County Fair. When her husband passed in 1992, Evalena continued the role and she is still serving in that position today. Evalena sponsors the Fred Dierker Memorial Award given each year at the County Fair for the Best Chicken Exhibit. Evalena is a great dedicated volunteer that deserves to be honored for her continued service.
