The primary objective of Horse Bowl contests is to provide an opportunity for youth enrolled in 4-H horse projects to demonstrate their knowledge of equine related subject matter in a competitive setting where attitudes of friendliness and fairness prevail. It is also hoped that these contests will provide an educational experience for both participants and spectators.
Youth with an interest and knowledge in horses won’t want to miss a chance to enter the regional Horse Bowl Contest. Registration deadline is close, so contact the office if you’re interested. Junior teams include 4-H members age 8 to 13. Senior teams are 14 and older as of Jan. 1, 2019. Qualifying teams and individuals will advance to the State contests to be held April 22 in Champaign.
The Horse Bowl is similar to academic scholastic bowls except all the questions relate to horses! Participants do not need to have horses or be enrolled in the horse project to participate.
The State Horse Bowl Contest will take place on Sunday April 14 in the Education Building, 1310 S. Sixth Street, Champaign. It is located just south & slightly west of DKH where Hippology & Speech are on Saturday.
Registration will start at 8 a.m. in the basement of the Education Bldg. Coaches mtg will immediately follow completed registration.
